Major props must go to the cover designer of Adult Themes, the legendary Mark Gowing. He has just received the Certificate of Typographic Excellence from the Type Directors Club of New York. The Type Design Competition is widely regarded as the premiere venue for the world's best in type design, so it's a pretty big deal. The book cover will be published in Typography 28, the annual of the Type Directors Club, and will join a touring exhibit of typography to open this summer in New York City and tour through North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and East Asia. Nice work, Mark. Your multiple designs, our coffee sessions with cardboard cut-outs, the manifesto to change the reigning mentality of only-the-lowest-common-denominator in cover design...it's all paid off.
